With degrees in architecture and biology, the interaction of the built and natural environment continues to inspire Cynthia’s life and work. For 15 years she has been using her talent to create lively brightly colored sculpture from structural steel.
In March of 2008, Cynthia was commissioned by members of the Chamber Music Society of Saugatuck to do a 10’ tower of gulls in memory of longtime lakeshore resident, Priscilla Mueller. It is to be unveiled mid-summer of 2008.
As winner of the 2006 Call for Functional Art competition sponsored by Heartside Main Street and Dwelling Place, Cynthia designed and created the 13 tree guards which reside along the street in the 100 block of Division Avenue in Grand Rapids, MI.
In 2005 Cynthia won the Art ‘Round Town People’s Choice Award for her Family of Man IV after which Art ‘Round Town purchased the piece and donated it to the City of Saugatuck.
